Blood and Platelet Drives

The American Red Cross is facing a critical blood shortage and is issuing an urgent appeal for eligible blood and platelet donors. For eligibility requirements, to find a blood drive near you, and for other information, call 1-800-733-2767 or visit www.redcrossblood.org. Upcoming blood and platelet donation opportunities include:

  • Monday, July 24, from 12:30 until 5:30 at First Baptist Church in Kuttawa, located at 316 Walnut Drive
  • Tuesday, July 25, from 11:00 to 5:00 at American Legion in Mayfield, at 211 South Seventh Street
  • Tuesday, July 25, from noon until 4:00 McCracken County Public Library on Washington Street.

Concerts

Ernie Dawson and Heirline will be in concert Saturday, July 29, at Solid Rock Baptist Church, located at 2389 State Route 1213 North in Hickory. Dinner will be served at 5:00 and the concert will begin at 6:00. For more information, call 270-804-2308.

Eric Horner will be in concert Sunday, July 30, at 6:00 p.m., at Altona Baptist Church, located at 5827 Highway 62 in Calvert City. A love offering will be received.

CFSB’s 43rd Annual Watermelon Bust will be held Saturday, August 5, at Marshall County High School in Draffenville. Kids games will be available and watermelon will be served at 5:00, and The Booth Brothers will be in concert at 6:00. The event is free and open to the public.

The third Friday of each month, Southern Gospel Singers United hosts an evening of southern gospel music at Kentucky Opry in Draffenville. The Childress Family in coordination with the Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission will be hosting their annual Gospel Music Extravaganza Friday, September 8 and Saturday, September 9, at Victory Church in Madisonville, located at 615 Brown Road. Friday’s concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m. and include The Childress Family, The Conquerors, and The Perrys.
