Revival, Homecoming, and Other Services

Westside Baptist Church in Murray is hosting special Christmas services and events through the month of December. The church will present the musical, “Welcome to Bethlehem” Saturday, December 14 at 5:00 and Sunday, December 15 at 3:00 and 5:00. The church will be hosting a special service at 5:00 Christmas Eve. The choirs of Memorial Baptist and First Baptist churches in Murray will present, “On This Very Night” at First Baptist Church on Sunday, December 15, at 10:00. The musical will also be presented at Memorial Baptist Church at 6:00.

Lone Oak First Baptist Church is hosting “Christmas at Lone Oak: The Carols of Christmas” on Sunday, December 15, from 7:00 until 8:30. The church’s choir, band, and orchestra will participate.

Altona Baptist Church in Calvert City will present their Christmas program Sunday, December 22, from 11:00 until noon.

Community

American Legion Post 236 in Calvert City will participate in Wreaths Across America on Saturday, December 14, at 11:00, at Mike Miller Park in Draffenville. Wreaths Across America is a Christmas event that honors deceased veterans. For more information, visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org.

First Baptist Church in Benton, at 910 Main Street, is hosting a community meal on Christmas Day from 11:00 until 1:30. Meals can be delivered for anyone living within five miles of the church. For more information or to request a meal delivery, call 270-527-7575.

Educational Events

Four Rivers Behavioral Health is hosting Adult Mental Health First Aid Training Tuesday, December 17, from 8:00 until 5:00, at Marshall County Health Department, at 267 Slickback Road in Benton. Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental illness or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care. Fundraisers

The 2020 Western Kentucky Polar Plunge will be held Saturday, March 7, from 8:00 until 1:00 at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park. The Polar Plunge is a
fundraiser for Special Olympics, an organization that supports children and adults across the state with intellectual disabilities. Participants can take part in the 5k run, jump in the lake, or register for the “triple crown” which includes both events.
