Caring and Sharing, located behind Glendale Church of Christ in Murray, provides a charity food pantry on Mondays from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. as well as a clothing ministry on Tuesdays from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Caring and Sharing invites you to join them for a Bible study followed by a free meal on Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Caring and Sharing accepts new and used clothes from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays. The Marshall County Public Library Benton Branch is hosting free in-person tax preparation services during the upcoming tax season. Southern Gospel Singers United presents their 3rd Annual Spring Convention, Friday April 28 and Saturday April 29 at Yellow Creek Baptist Church, located on 4506 Ellis Mills Road in Cumberland City TN. Massac Methodist Church, located on 2065 Mayfield Metropolis Road in Paducah, is hosting Eric Horner in concert, Sunday April 30 starting at 6:00 p.m. A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow. Several Local Churches are coming together as the Body of Christ to give him glory in the Greater McCracken Gospel Unity Event, Saturday May 13 from 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at The Riff, located on 2035 Irvin Cobb Drive in Paducah. There is going to be a Southern Gospel Show at the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, located on 1950 Big Bear Highway in Benton, Sunday May 21 starting at 2:00 p.m. The show will feature the cast of the Badgett Playhouse and will be held to benefit the Grace English School in Chimaltenango, Guatemala.  The Grace English School is a faith based education program that teaches children in Guatemala basic conversational English in hopes of providing them with better job opportunities. The Golden Pond Visitor Center is hosting a National Astronomy Day Festival, Saturday, April 29 from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM plus a Star Party at 8:00 PM. Hosted by West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers & Land Between the Lakes Association, this free family event is for anyone interested in celebrating the Total Solar Eclipse coming in August.  There will be Sun crafts for the kids, free eclipse viewing glasses, free planetarium shows, free Star Party after dark as well as many solar eclipse exhibits and presentations. Educational Events

The Marshall County Public Library Hardin Branch is hosting a Fairy Garden Workshop, Tuesday, April 25 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Learn how to create a fairy or miniature garden in your landscape, tabletop container or flower pot. Program will include hands-on construction of a tabletop garden for giveaway. Presenters include Linda Ann Ward and Linda M Caviness.

Fundraisers

The Empty Bowls Project 2017 will take place on Saturday, April 29 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Trace Creek Family Life Center, located on 3357 State Route 131 in Mayfield.  The event will include a silent auction and door prizes. Tickets are available at Good News Shoppe or Trace Creek Church Office. Tickets are $15 each and all proceeds will benefit the Mayfield-Graves County Food Pantry. The Empty Bowls Project is an international grassroots movement with a mission to fight hunger locally and globally. The Empty Bowls fundraising event allows ticket holders to select a hand painted bowl and sample food provided by local restaurants. After eating, participants can take their uniquely decorated bowl home as a constant reminder of the empty bowls in the world. The Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center will hold its Annual Duck Race, Saturday, April 29 starting at 3:00 p.m. at the Information Age Park in West Paducah. The first duck through the finish line wins the race. All proceeds from the Paducky Derby will benefit the Merryman House, a non-profit organization with services for the victims of intimate partner abuse and their dependents. Anyone can adopt until an hour before the race begins, as long as the Derby is not sold out. Ducks are now officially available for adoption online for $5.00 per duck using the “Shop Now” button at the “Paducky Derby” Facebook Page, and the Paducky Derby website at www.duckrace.com/paducah/adopt. You can also get a Quack-Pack of ducks, 6 ducks for $25. Ducks are also available at All Good Media, located at 211-North 38th Street, Kentucky Oaks Mall in Paducah, at Paducah Shooter Supply in Paducah, and the Quilt Show at the Convention Center in Paducah. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place duckies. The Paducky Derby is open to the public. Concord Baptist Church in Hopkinsville and One Church in Cadiz are cohosting “Nicaragua” Car Show, April 29 from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Cadiz Baptist Church, located on 82 Main Street in Cadiz.
